Doodle on your sketchpad

2/24/2015 Micaela 2 Comments

Most of us peeps who're into anime, kawaii, or anything that has something to do with the Japanese culture, loves to draw! It doesn't necessarily mean that all of are considered "good" like the others who really take time to draw and such, there are some of us who started out with stick people, and just sort of emerged lol, I think I may never be good in drawing, but I still like doing it lol I really admire people who can draw so good and yet make it seem like it's no big deal, currently my favorite artists are of course Chichi! (littlemisspaintbrush) and my recently found friend Jenni! (Jennillustrations) of course both of them has some sort of similarity in style, but very different results which is why I love them!

I really love to draw, I've got like a ton of sketchpads at home, like around 45, and my favorites would be the moleskin blank/canvas notebook because it's handy plus it's also cute, lol! will try to take pictures of my older sketchpads and drawings next time~ for now, this is my newest sketch pad! I love buying these kinds of sketchpad because I get to draw on the cover! and that's what this post is about!

It makes one unique, and you'd feel like you're the only person  in the world who has this notebook or sketchpad because you designed it or doodled on it! If you want to make or do this to your sketchpad as well! I'll tell you everything you need to know, and by that I mean where to buy the stuff lol

Where to buy:
  • Sketchpad : Daiso in Trinoma (the large one, not the one beside clippers) - 88 php
  • Sharpie : any National Bookstore branch (duh lol) - this is what I mainly used to draw, I don't like using pencil that much
  • Art Liner pen : any National Bookstore (duh duh)
  • Pastel Pens : SM Marikina Department store
  • Kawaii 3D stickers : got it from Kaila (rainbowholic) from Japan!
  • Faber Castell Connector Pens : any National Bookstore branch (duh duh duh lol)

And that concludes the most things used lol
And let the drawing begin!

That's actually me lol, I like doodling myself because I can never go wrong with it haha! but! I drew myself in a Cardcaptor Sakura cosplay, for reasons I will be stating later haha!

Now I'm the type of person who loves to draw with either pens or markers, whenever I doodle, the drawing comes out super good, which makes me inspired/motivated to draw more complicated stuff, since it's a complicated drawing I'll use a pencil instead, and whenever I do so, it actually comes out worse than I thought, anyone else experience the same thing? haha!

I'm also not good at coloring, literally, but I do try! sometimes what I do is I look at the works of some of my favorite artists for inspiration lol and voila!

I just used the pastel gel pens, and the Faber Castell connector pens to color it, since someone borrowed my Faber castell colored pencils, and never actually got it back, *sobs*

anyway! It's really fun to design your own characters, sketchpad and notebooks! I think I get motivated more lol!

Please look forward to more random drawings from me, and will be making a separate post for the introduction of the Cardcaptor Sakura Club! (which is the reason why I drew me in a sakura outfit lol)

See you soon!

How Kawaii started for me...

2/22/2015 Micaela 5 Comments

This post is just a short overview of how the Kawaii lifestyle changed me in so many ways, hopefully the readers can understand and see what I went through and if they are going through the same things, there is a silver lining to everything, I'm still going through the challenge as of now, it's not yet over and I still haven't proven myself, I have a lot of work to do, but at least this is a start.
Everybody has their own history as to how they've come to like, appreciate, and love the Kawaii culture, a lot of people appreciate it, but a lot more may find it weird, out of the norms, unnatural and abnormal, it just varies depending on which country you're from, if you're from a country who is open to "unnatural" things or if not. From where I'm from, it can work both ways, Filipinos tend to be very open in some things and very closed in others, we are easily influenced which makes us more open minded I guess, but we also tend to be very judgmental... I know I've had my fair share of problems when it comes to "expressing" how I want to live my life (of course in a positive happy way) and people, even your own family, become judgmental and sometimes can be mean because the lifestyle I chose is "abnormal", which is why I was never able to do the things I want as often as others, I've always wanted to try cosplaying, some people would say why don't I try it, I pass it of as me being not interested or not having the budget, because I pretend like I don't care, but really, I envy the people who're able to cosplay their favorite characters.

My family is not that well off, we live in a simple apartment, we have one car, and we just live a simple life, not too much and not too less, but my relatives actually live the high end life, the "normal" parties they go to, they own more than 1 car, have houses in different locations, and they always go out of the country to travel and even stay for a couple of weeks, sometimes even montsh outside of the country, so they're the "typical", "normal" families who live the extravagant life, I know that they can be judgmental sometimes, and I feel that sometimes my cousins make fun of me (though not anymore recently, we're all adults now hello lol) and I think that gave me the biggest impact and biggest bag of low self esteem and zero confidence... I feel I'm not pretty, I'm not cute enough to cosplay, not Kawaii enough to become "KAWAII", I don't know how to put on make up because my mom is the sporty type, doesn't put on make up, and all my siblings are boys, I'm too scared to try contacts, and I've always felt that those are the factors needed to be cute and kawaii... (although my relatives actually find these things "weird" in the first place)

and so, I have been following quite a number of inspirational people who motivate you to be who you are, to always express what you are, don't give a damn about what others think of you, and I really try to follow their advice, tips and I try to take their words into heart, but sadly those didn't work for me, I still pretend and hide the fact that I'm into those kinds of things, my parents would sometimes say "why do you dress like that?", "your things are for 12 year old kids", "act your age" and it makes me feel discouraged, they support me in some things related to my Otakuness or to the kawaii lifestyle, but I know deep down inside, they think that all this is a waste of time and it won't do me any good...

I've always loved anything Kawaii, but never really took it to the next level, until one day... I stumbled upon Kawaii PH, and saw how everyone is so encouraging, empowering, and I also found people who has gone through or even still going through the same things as I do... I found refuge and felt that my existence has finally cleared, I know what I want to do, I know what I needed to do, and that's when I gathered up the courage, to send the Kawaii Leader a long message in facebook, telling her how much I appreciated all their hardwork, how I felt empowered, how I felt I was rescued without them even knowing they did, I expressed how thankful I was and how much I'd love to help out in anyway because it would be a dream of mine, to become an inspiration to people like me, who have these problems, worries, and insecurities, I don't know if I'm lucky or what, but ms. Kaila Ocampo did reply asap and I wasn't ready for her reply, she told me she was very happy and all, and to my surprise asked me a couple of questions, and there I was, sending my creative resume to her, and working for Kawaii PH, became a Kawaii PH blogger and writer, and currently still an intern.,, I have met a lot of people with whom I've always wanted to become friends with, and I also realized how big yet at the same time small the world is.

I realized I don't need to put on a lot of make up, to put on contacts, to have lolita clothes, to be Kawaii, I just needed to be myself, and that's why I'm confident that I'm dedicated to be a part of Kawaii PH, my dream for now is to help Kawaii PH achieve their dream, I'm already 22 years old, still haven't achieved anything in terms of work, not even close... but I believe that Kawaii PH will be my guide and my goal, to reach the dream that I still need to search for...

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this~
I hope whatever you're going through, you'd be able to go through it with a smile and keep the Kawaii faith! Never let the nay sayers that you won't achieve anything with the Kawaii lifestyle, or that it's not going to do you good, believe me, If I had a nickel for every reminder or for every scolding I get when it comes to Kawaii lifestyle not gonna do me good, I'd be a millionaire by now, so never think you are alone in this! We're all in this together!

Calligraphy Art by Sol Racho

2/21/2015 Micaela 0 Comments

Calligraphy art is one of the things that I'm not able to do, I have so much respect for people with good handwriting and beautiful lettering, and I recently discovered one of my high school friends with the talent and ability to create beautiful writing, her name is Sol Racho, we weren't really super close in high school but we did have a lot of things in common, I knew she was good in drawing but never knew she already took it to the next level!

This is one of my favorite from her works, aside from the beautiful handwriting and lettering, the balance of the ink were also spread out in a very elegant manner, and the peach painting at the bottom made it even more perfect!

Here are some of her other works

This is also done in a very creative and mind blowing maner!

I've always tried crappy lettering with a regular pen, but her hands must be magical for her to use these inks and brushes so perfectly!

One of these days, I'll ask her to organize a workshop for calligraphy art!

Will be posting/providing the links on where you can find more of Sol Racho's works!

(all pictures were taken from Sol's Facebook/instagram page)

Bye loves!

Sailor Moon Ribbon iPhone Case Review

2/18/2015 Micaela 2 Comments

This post focuses on my most recent iPhone case purchase which is the kawaii Sailor Moon Ribbon iPhone 5/5s case! I've actually been using this case for about a month already and I can't believe I actually forgot to write a review about it, this is the official Bandai release and one of the newer iphone cases they released under Sailor Moon for this particular phone model!

First of all the box is super adorable, you'll notice the background of the box are like little patterns of Sailor Moon's Brooch, wands, etc.

And at the back you'll see classic sailor moon and a the official Toei sticker! which I think you should look for when you're planning on buying PGSM merchandise online to make sure it's authentic.

For this particular phone case, the only phone it supports is iPhone 5 or 5s, it doesn't have one for 5c, or 4/4s, there's a separate release for 6 and I will be posting the designs as well so you can see, but for other official sailor moon cases, they do have for 4/4s, 5c, 5/5s and of course for iphone 6.

The ribbon itself is made with good quality plastic, not too thick not too thin, and the sides or the base of the phone itself is thick smooth rubber, which makes the phone case secured but not hard to put the phone in and to take the phone out of the case! that's one thing I really consider!

I'm sorry it's kinda dirty wasn't able to wipe it thoroughly lol

Does it fit Usagi? lol!

Anyway, here's where you can order one for yourself, it's an affordable Japan based OL shop, but very authentic as well!

I got the Prism brooch because I'm not of a fan of the pink shade they used in the other case or the star crystal brooch~

And here's a preview on their designs for the iPhone 6 version

It's the Cosmic brooch, and chibiusa's brooch!

They have a lot of collections!  feel free to visit them and order one for yourself!

New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL

2/17/2015 Micaela 1 Comments

It's no surprise that I'm a big fan of Nintendo games, my first baby was my pink Nintendo 3DS XL, (but I also recently got a Pink PS VITA..I love pink) but their latest release (which was just released in DataBlitz yesterday!) is the NEW Nintendo 3DS, what's sad though is that the NN3DS hasn't been released in other countries yet, just the XL version, which my boyfriend got today! 2 days ago, we lined up for 2 hours in DataBlitz just to get his pre-ordered Monster Hunter 4 game with a Fan, Poster, and a MH figurine! but a while ago, we got the last NN3DS XL in stock, again they just released it in DB yesterday 6 pm and only one was left! Mike was super happy telling me it was meant to be, and DB only caters people who signed up for reservation, which is a good thing cause mike reserved his days ago! but what I really want to buy is the regular NN3DS!

Just look at how awesome it is? the exterior looks like a classic 90's game, but you can actually add "Plates" to give the unit a more personal and Kawaii look, in addition, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is the model for it! which makes me want it even more!

So many plates available for separate purchase, and what I want the most..

IS THE KAWAII PLATES PROMOTED BY KYARY PAMYU PAMYU!
Look at how cute it is!

Ahhh, this is the model I want, but the NN3DS was just released in Japan, it hasn't been released in the US, or even Singapore, just the XL version which my boyfriend got, it has 3 versions (so far which is available in PH) Red, Black, and the Monster Hunter Bundle
I think I'll save up for this NN3DS, should I wait for it or should I just buy a NN3DS XL?

Here's a photo of Mike's Monster Hunter bundles and his Black New Nintendo 3DS XL

I love the black one, it looks classy and it looks like glass as well, the previous 3DS XL's black (which was what he had) looked like cheap plastic, but this looks classy!
The NN3DS XL available at any DataBlitz branch (upon reservation) is at 11,995 php!

So which should I get? should I order the NN3DS online? should I get the NN3DS XL? or should I wait? lol!

2015 Sailor Moon Wishlist and Release dates!

2/16/2015 Micaela 0 Comments

Every magical girl has had "obsessions" and "wishes" when it comes to their favorite magical girl show like Sailor moon and Cardcaptor Sakura, (of course there's a whole lot more). I myself want to collect every merchandise of CCS and of course some for Sailor moon~
I currently have a small Cardcaptor Sakura collection, (which I will be updating soon once more of my orders arrive) and now I'm also starting to collect Sailor Moon stuff~
Recently, I have been obsessed with some of their upcoming official items, which can actually be used in daily life, and not just for display!
First of is this awesome Baby G watch!

To be honest I've never been a fan of Baby G or G shock prolly because it's SOOO popular here in the Philippines and like almost EVERYONE has one, (and yes, I want to be one of a kind lol) but this! I could definitely go for! I'm planning on pre-ordering this one since it will only be in stores for a couple of days! It will be sold at Isetan from March 25-31 2015 ONLY! and pre orders start on March 4th at the OL shop which I will be doing! lol! it's price is at 16,000 JPY

This watch looks super simple and plain compared to other Sailor Moon merchandise, but it actually lights up and shows Sailor Moon's transformation as the BG! Plus look at that case! One other thing why I would buy this~

Next is the Sailor Moon Moon Stick and Moon Rod Eyeliners!

These are some of the newer make up releases for PGSM, and even though I don't wear make up, I would definitely buy/order these just because I want to hold and own a moon stick and a moon rod! Won't you feel magicaler when you put on make up with these? hohoho!

Now I will put on make up, if I can use this everyday! I would bring it everywhere I go in case Zoizite, Kunzite, Nephrite and Jedite attacks! yuh I kinda like them cos they're ikemen villains lol!

Retail price is at 1,728 JPY each and will be available on March 10 2015! you can also pre order them (again which I might do lol) on the Premium Bandai site!

The last thing on this list for now are these super cute Miniature Tablets!

These are super cute Sailor Moon brooch cases with Peach Mint flavored candy tablets inside!
The cases are designed with Rhine stones and the paint works for this is very accurate and very cute!
Even after you finish all the candy, you can use these as keychains and you can collect them all! lol!
Retail Price is 450 JPY each and they will be released sometime in June of this year!

Happy Anniversary to us!

2/15/2015 Micaela 0 Comments

Today (February 16th in our time) is the celebration of my 1 year anniversary with my favorite person, partner, best friend, and hubby Mike! I can't believe it's already been a year since we became a couple, I remember he courted me for 5 months before I actually said yes, I kinda dumped him a lot of times during the duration of his courtship, but I saw his determination and "love" for me (yeah me be cheesy) he cut through my ICY exterior and caught me!

Oh my gosh I'm super cheesy lol this will also be considered as my Valentine post for us, we weren't able to go out during Valentines day, but we will be celebrating this tuesday! it will be our post-valentine/1 year anniversary date! it's gonna be the best... EVAR!
hihi!

I want to thank you for being so supportive in all the activities I partake in, whether it be a Convention, anything related to Kawaii PH, blogging, eating, I know I can be childish and selfish and stubborn, but you always see past through those and you remember that I can also be adorable, cute and sweet! teehee!

I love you very much and I can't wait to see what our future will  be!

cheesyness is over~ hihi

Hope everyone had a nice Valentine~

Kawaii bread cutter

2/10/2015 Micaela 0 Comments

For today's blog entry, I will be testing out these kawaii bread cutters that I recently got from my bae~ I've got other bento materials but will be trying this out first!

Ain't they cute?? they're also easier to use because they're plastic!

You can make cute sandwiches like these with this bento cutter!

They're also very well detailed! you just need to press real hard to get the details on the bread itself~

Sakura Miku helping me out with the "tutorial"

Of course you'd need loaf bread to make this! Not sure if this will work on rice because it's plastic, it may not take the heat well, so I'll try it with bread first!
I will try the bear cutter and lets all see how it turns out!

Once you push the cutter real deep/hard in the bread, you pull of the excess bread and I suggest using a knife to get the sides that you may not see when you're cutting this~

Janjajaan! and here's what it looks like! Now all we need to do is to add the details on it!

As you may notice, the crown design is still not on so just turn the cutter/detailer around to get the crown on the forehead~

And jajan! It's complete! if you want to make a sandwich just repeat the process another time and spread out chocolate or strawberry jam or even fill it with ham which you can cut like this as well!
Now lets try the bunny one!

And again if you want to make a sandwich just do the same process and bam it's done!

If you don't want to make a sandwich, you can use these simple cut outs and just pair them with ham/bacon and egg for breakfast or for your bento and kawaii-fy it!

That's it for this post hope you all try this as well!
You can buy these adorable bread cutters in Daiso or Japan Home Center!
